Daring Fireball – The iPhones 6S
Speaking of which, the iPhone 6S cameras are terrific. They’re fast, responsive, and accurate — accurate meaning that unedited, right off the camera roll, the color and light reproduction look like how the scene appeared to my eyes. More than any other aspect of the iPhone, the camera exemplifies the advantages of Apple’s integration of hardware and software.
Jim Dalrymple – iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus
3D Touch is one of the handiest features that I’ve seen from Apple in a long time. It’s not just that it’s cool, it actually saves me time. It’s a new way to navigate the iPhone that’s quick, easy, and efficient.
Walt Mossberg – The iPhone 6S keeps Apple on top in the smartphone race
The iPhone 6S is the best smartphone out there, period. If you already own last year’s model, you might not find its new features compelling enough to upgrade. But, if you own an older iPhone, or an Android phone you’re ready to ditch, this new iPhone will make you much happier.
The Verge – Apple presses forward
It’s a wild new interface paradigm with a ton of potential, and that means developers are going to have to experiment before settling on a common language. I think that process is going to be really fun, just like developers using multitouch for the first few years was really fun.
Techradar – iPhone 6S Plus review – Just as big, but a little better
Just as big, but a little better. Apple has reinvigorated its phablet without rewriting the playbook thanks to its smart 3D Touch technology and a more power under the hood.
Stuff – Has everything really changed for the iPhone 6s?
It’s not just the 6s’ rear camera that’s grown up. Its FaceTime camera has also been bumped up to 5MP from its 1.2MP former self. Narcissists everywhere will be happy to hear Apple is really encouraging selfie-taking in iOS 9.
Mobilesyrup – Practical magic
This year the new iPhones, the 6s and 6s Plus, debut two of those features. Without them, they would be outstanding phones, awash in hardware improvements and a base level of polish that exceeds every handset manufacturer on the planet. With them, they move the devices even further away from the specs race that envelops Android, focusing on core user experiences.
Buzzfeed – Should you buy an iPhone 6s? Should I?
Does that also sound like Jobsian hyperbole? Probably. But I think 3D Touch is likely the biggest innovation to the iPhone UI since the iPhone UI. And it’s largely why the answer to the question I posed earlier is “yes.”
The New York Times – Testing iPhone 6s’s 3D Touch and Live Photos Features
You might wonder, why not just shoot a video? The short answer is that there will be tiny moments in life where you would never have guessed you wanted to shoot a video, and now Live Photos has a chance to capture them.
Pocket-lint – Is 3D Touch worth the upgrade?
We think 3D Touch is a great addition – although it’s a feature that will involve you having to reprogramme the way you use the iPhone, at least at first. That’s not to say it’s a waste of time. 3D Touch is very clever and as it’s system-wide it’s going to be really interesting to see how this develops into other apps.
The Wall Street Journal – A Slightly Better iPhone 6
The absolute best thing about the 6s is Live Photos. While capturing a still photo, it also captures a bit of live action. They’re awesome for reliving fun moments, especially of an active puppy or child, and anyone with an iOS 9 iPhone or iPad can view them.
The Telegraph – Built for success
But this time it’s up to twice as fast as the 6’s sensor which causes only only one problem – it’s almost too fast. Merely pressing the home button to wake the phone now swiftly unlocks it, ploughing you straight into the home screen and most likely bypassing the message notification you were looking for.
Mashable – The iPhone 6s Plus
Is it a must-have upgrade? No, unless you must have gorgeous 4K video and can’t live without the innovative 3D Touch. By sheer volume, iOS 9 probably adds more feature enhancements than the iPhone 6S Plus, and you can get it for free. This doesn’t diminish Apple’s accomplishment. Take me, for instance: Now that I’ve had a taste of 4K and Peek and Pop, I don’t know if I can go back.
TechCrunch – New iPhones and a new tempo
Tillbaka till startsidan
Apple says its new Touch ID sensor is twice the speed of the one in the iPhone 6/6 Plus. I’m sure someone will try to measure it, but I think this one metric is enough: the new fingerprint sensor is so fast that you can no longer tap the home button to wake your screen, because it will unlock instantly.
